Elizabeth James Art 'Colour in Motion' 

When I was doing my photography part of art and design course in college I came across Elizabeth James Art website. When I saw some of the pictures she had on colour and motion in water, I found this unusual and interesting. At the time I hadn't seen anything like the images she had on the subject and the way in which the colour has a smoke effect accompanied by the trails of colour, how it gives the whole motions a sort of living aspect and how it is done in water.

Through this I have been influenced in ways that I don’t look at an item in the same way as I use to.  When needing images that are primary sources it influenced me in a way to be a bit creative with photographs and use different subjects to take a picture of, from the everyday things to something slightly unique. This helped me complete my art and design course as well as my Graphic Design (use of Primary imagery) in college and will continue to influence me in other ways, I can go about taking images for a project that can be more eye catchy by being unusual.

Unique Logo Design with meanings Heddwyn Coombs

Another time when I looked at I web solutions there was another blog done by Heddwyn Coombs. Heddwyn made a post about Logos that are unique and are done in ways that the image can be an exact representation of the text that would go with the image. One example of this is the Diamond bookstore the logo has been done in a way to have a book representing the book store in a Diamond shape. This I found interesting and helped me in ways I designed logos at the time for an online community I was part of.

This became even more helpful with a project I had to do in Graphic design in my first few weeks at University. Through seeing the different ways a logo can be made and how a image can represent a few words. It helped influence how I go about getting information on what the logo is based on either it be a person or company. It has also changed how I would make a logo before I would create slight to complicated logos were now I look at more simple ways to do this.

Between college and university I had been looking for work, at the time I was looking for any sort of job I could get. Even though I wasn't openly studying or working in anything Graphic related, I was still looking around at some of the work people have done, and to learn different ways images can be created also how each type of imagery has a different affect and target audience.

One time when I was looking at graphic work I found I web solutions while on their blog section I came across a post “Illustration, Graphic Design, Art”. I was intrigued by one image there with the text ‘The heart of Design Still Beats’ while it was a simple message the design and how it is laid out is what made its message different. While there are certain letters in the words  that are slightly harder to read it attracts attention by the circular motions going on around the text and in it. When I first saw it I had to look at it more than once to at first read the text then to check to see if there was anything hidden. While images can be simple and creative this image showed me the more complex way of showing what you have created. I started to create some images in creative yet slightly intricate.

Design inspired by music : Techno by Ariela Ross

During my time at Itchen College I was doing one project on magazines and going through the colour, font type and layout to show how each can affect how people read / look at a page. While doing this we learned about using text to create an image at first I didn't think much of it, but when I began searching about how others have done this I came across this image posted by Ariela Ross. She showed a image of a headphone being made up out of words and letters some parts having words overlap each other.

This at first was considered odd as I still wasn't interested by the whole idea of text imaging, but after a while I came back to it several times and found I was starting to look at it differently with how a single letter or word could make up each bit of the headphone. After looking into it more I started to try to create at images out of words, and with each one I tried I started to realize the impact that it can have on a target audience and how that it can be used in very creative ways.

When I was studying Art and Design at Secondary school I did several artist researches which were involved with my projects. While doing one project I came across the cover for a CD “Another Green World” Brian Eno's third album and I was fascinated with how simple shapes and colours when combined could represent something without having a lot of detail. The colours used in the image are simple and have no blending to show lighter or darker areas, but in its simplicity it has an effect which draws your attention to the image.

The people and environment in the image have been done also in a simple way, just using simple shapes like arched semi circles as hands the people’s faces have no detail. This showed me that it doesn't take high detailed images to get attention. This inspired me to try and create simple yet creative work and through my Graphic work I have started to simplify the detail that goes into it and have found that with certain image types that simple shape / colour will have more effect than what a highly detailed image would.
